A few years ago, I was living in the tropics and had traveled away from home on a short trip. I was making the 30 mile drive from the airport to my house when I saw this beautiful rainbow out the window of my car. I quickly snapped a picture and was so mesmerized with seeing an entire rainbow, I almost drove off the road.
It was a difficult time in my life, probably one of the hardest that I experienced alone, yet when I saw the rainbow, it gave me hope. The picture recently popped up in my photo album and it reminded of how my life changed for the better after seeing the rainbow. Then I found this online:
“Rainbows are a symbol of hope in many cultures. … Rainbows are frequently represented in Western art and culture, as a sign of hope and promise of better times to come.“
I don’t think it was a coincidence, and I don’t believe in them, but during such troubled times in our country, I believe that we all need hope that we can restore to a state of peace and take an active role to personally spread peace, not hatred, violence or judgments.
We all need a bit of rainbow hope.
